With the electricity supply and demand challenges the past week, you may ask if there is any light at the end of the Business Events Industry tunnel. Well, we have participated in a number of in-person Business Events, such as the Travel Marketing Experts (TME) Travel Industry Workshop, hosted by the City of Johannesburg’s Tourism Directorate at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, as well the Cape Town and Western Cape Convention Bureau, a division of WESGRO’s Hybrid Business week, gradual momentum seems to be building.
We are therefore cautiously optimistic that #thereislight and we can only keep #buildingbackstronger through collective efforts on all fronts of the supply and demand side of the Business Events Industry.
It’s on the demand side that we need more work to be done. Both private and public sector clients should be meeting and hosting in person engagements. Their confidence to meet, even in smaller numbers, but meet in person more regularly. Small is more and will aid in the recovery process.
We also welcome the work done on the UIF/TERS and look forward to the announcement on the process for applications.
