Debbie Human-Van Eck

Bio

Dr Debbie Human-Van Eck is a member of faculty at Stellenbosch University where she heads up the Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and lectures integrated marketing communication, brand management and consumer psychology. She is also involved with the neuro-marketing research lab that has been established at Stellenbosch University’s Department of Business Management.

Dr Human-Van Eck consults in the profit and non-profit sector. Her research and consulting interests include brand purpose and identity, neuro-marketing, non-profit marketing, creativity, and design thinking. She is particularly passionate about transforming organisations into purpose-driven entities and designing creative interventions to take staff along on the journey.

In addition to her responsibilities at Stellenbosch University, Dr Human-Van Eck is the co- founder and chairperson of the non-profit organisation, Living Legends (since 2010). She is also the custodian to Project Unicorn, a research and development initiative focusing on identity, purpose and happiness; and the co-founder of Hove (since 2020), a firm specialising in purpose-driven creative projects.

Debbie is also the infatuated wife of sculptor Gerhard van Eck and the proud mother of little Biha.
