Ubuntu translated as “I am because we are” (also “I am because you are”), was surely evident as we bid farewell to the DOME earlier this week. Having had the opportunity to thank the staff whom have worked at the Dome, some since the inception of the venue, was indeed a moment of UBUTU.
As an Association we would like to thank Carol Weaving and the team from Reed Exhibitions, along with the South Africa National Convention Bureau, in partnering with us to meet this week. If it was not for the restrictions, we would have had many more industry stakeholders join us in-person.
To those that had the privilege to be there will agree that our industry could not have hosted events, whether live shows, Trade shows or concerts by international music icons if it were not for the back of house team at the DOME.
We are pleased to learn that many of the staff at the Dome will be retained by the new owners. This bodes well as it does provide a glimmer of hope should the need arise to host any future international concerts or live events.
Our push to raise our industry challenges continued this week when we had to opportunity to engage on the SABC actuality programme – the Watchdog. A recording is shared below as well as some highlights from the function held at the Dome.
