Social Compact

27 May 2022

As your Association, our activity for the past week is reflective of the progress we are making for you, our members and industry partners.

“How?” You may ask…

In hosting the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Fish Mahlalela, in Cape Town this week, where the Department’s budget vote for the MICE sector was shared, discussed in alignment with the country’s recovery plan, members and association partners all agreed, that it is about implementation.

Implementation without restrictions will not only ease the burden on our sector but improve the impact we are making in many parts of the country through business events and exhibitions.

SAACI used the opportunity to also recognise the work, impact, and social change our Project RISE continues to make with our partners ECTA, Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and the Bay Christian Family Church in the community of Somerset West. It also allowed us the opportunity to honour the work of the late Marietta Greyling who was the driver and visionary behind Project Rise.

This coming together, highlighted the best of a true private partnership that is making a difference in a community, through the learning, development, and equipping individuals to enter our sector. Coupled with the on-going support.

Your association will continue to demonstrate the best of a true social compact for all in our industry.

We now have government joining that compact for the betterment of the Business Events Industry.
