The recruitment challenges impacting across the business events and exhibition sector are at the centre of many discussions amongst members right now. Many skills have been lost due the impact of the pandemic. Some may never return as our recovery is only starting to feel as if it is finally taking off.
However, we all have the lived experience as to how our own learning on the job was, how we did it and who gave us that much needed push to enter this sector.
This week we call on our members to reach out and consider potential learnership opportunities for students who will need work placement in the coming months to complete their degrees and courses.
SAACI has been working with several tertiary institutions in building a base of graduates that will form part of the inaugural SAACI Youth Board. We view the role of the next generation as a key strategic initiative in ensuring continuity whilst building the future skilled business events professionals for our sector.
We look forward to our members and industry leaders who will ensure the relevance of the internships and will support the future of the industry with steering further activities of the association in the coming years, which are focused on our young professionals.
Any member interested in becoming a Trailblazer or learning more about the process of the SAACI Youth Board can contact members@saaci.org.
