364 days ago, our country fell silent. No movement. No human contact. No idea how we will deal with this life changing experience and how devastating this past year will be on our industry. It is therefore with defaulted mixed emotions that we find ourselves acknowledging the year that was. This date is one that will always conger up ambivalent feelings as it affected all of us in very different ways.
As the Lions Rugby tour announced the intent to proceed with the planned series against the Springboks, we remain cautiously optimistic as experience has shown us that we are living in a fluid operating environment.
We view the announcement as a gear shift needed for destination South Africa to demonstrate our readiness for the international market and stress test our health and safety protocols within the current regulations.
The theme for the SAACI Annual National Congress seeks to Change the Gear in which the Business Events Industry finds itself in. The hybrid Congress will be hosted in the City of Johannesburg and available on a live stream for registered delegates outside of the City.
