Since 1987 SAACI have been dedicated to the efficiency and professionalism of the industry through training and education.

In the beginning of 2015 SAACI and SAVVY-Online formed a joint venture to established the SAACI academy and on 23 October 2015 during a press conference in Johannesburg the SAACI academy was launched (, this was a great achieved and milestone for the association.

Following the launch SAACI has set the following targets for member trainings:

40% of SAACI members should be involved in a training programme by end 2016 growing each year and 50% of SAACI professional conference organisers should be certified by 2018 under a Professional Body.

Through training and education SAACI was able to create an alternative revenue stream and will grow the academy with our partners in the year to come.

Details of the Strategic Plan for the SAACI Academy Pillar is as follow:

  • Identify stakeholders
    • Locally, regionally and International that we can form partnerships with as an ongoing process.
  • Form a professional body, to assist with professionalising the sector 
    • SAACI together with EXSA and IFEA Africa have joined forces in 2013 to establish the Council of Events Professionals and are in the process of getting final approval from South Africa Qualifications Authority (SAQA)
  • Identify industry needs
    • Conduct surveys or focus groups in each branch to establish what courses members are looking for and if they know they are able to contact the academy for any training offers 
  • Engage training partners to develop/adapt the course.
